let me share a quick summary of JJ's Orientation 2006, a 'Kaleidoscope of Life'.
first 2 days (tuesday and wednesday) - poor J1s, they had to ensure long talks about each subjects. they were so bored, they thought that orientation was boring. all i could do was to assure them that the upcoming camp would be very much better and more interesting. (this year's talk would mean that i have gone through it 3 times. and i know that the camp would be fun because i gone through it twice, one last year as a freshman, and another during my orientation group leader [OGL] camp.)
camp day 1 (friday) - all played some ice breakers game, bingo. the games was quite chaotic though, but nonetheless, the campers still ned further warming up. in the afternoon, we were supposed to play afternoon games, called afternoon heats. but all thanks to the rain, the games were all pushed indoor. not exactly that interesting given the lack of space, and guess not all campers enjoyed this game. mass dance during the afternoon was another session of breaking the ice. i was the video man for that programme. i went around looking for good and bad dancers, good and bad ass shakers as well as people with a confused look on their faces. night time came. the sing along session. my campers seem to enjoy this alot. guess they are those who really enjoy bonding sessions. night games was filled with running and pespiration with the snake and ladder. we had to run from the hall to canteen, back to hall then to parade square, back to hall then to track, back to hall and then so on and so forth.
camp day 2 (friday) - the campers got extremely tired of cheering. when we OGLs cheer, we were replied with dead silence. but the telematch in the morning warmed up everyone. after the game, they were wet with water and soap. some had flour and papaya on them too. they changed and got ready for mass dance. in the afternoon, the highlight of the whole camp came in. it was the world of combat. it was another games session filled with water, soap, flour and papya. definitely of higher intensity compared to the morning telematch. my policy during the game: no one was supposed to retun dry and untouched, sometimes including the OGLs as well. i watered everyone in my OG and those who they were playing against. and in that process, i was wet too. and from then on, my campers really enjoyed themselves. in the night, it was a sing, dance and cheering session called the JJ night.
camp day 3 (saturday) - i was starting to lose my voice. we played some emotional games, causing some to tear. it was tough to say good bye to your OG, who you have sowed so hard to make them bond together. and yes, our objective was met.
